AI Disclosure & Consent
How assistive software is used in your care through this app, the limits placed on it, and your choices
Your Practice uses the Nuvanei Health platform, which includes assistive software features ("AI assistants"). This disclosure explains what they do, what they are never allowed to do, how your information is protected, and the choices you have. Please read it before you continue.
1. What the AI Assistants Do
1.1 The AI assistants help your care team with routine work. In connection with your care, they may: prepare a plain-language explanation of a laboratory result; summarize the forms and history you provide before a visit; suggest a reply to a routine message, such as a scheduling question; and organize reminders for your care plan.
1.2 Everything an AI assistant prepares is a draft. A member of your care team reviews it, and may edit or discard it, before it is sent to you or added to your record. When you receive a message or explanation that was prepared with assistance, the App shows that it was prepared with assistance and reviewed by your care team.
2. What the AI Assistants Never Do
The AI assistants do not diagnose conditions, do not prescribe or change medications or supplements, do not order tests, do not make decisions about your treatment, and do not communicate with you on their own. Those actions are taken only by the licensed professionals at your Practice. The platform is built so that the assistants do not have the technical ability to do these things.
3. How Your Information Is Protected
3.1 When an AI assistant works on your information, the processing happens on private computer systems dedicated to Nuvanei Health, under a Business Associate Agreement as required by HIPAA, in the United States. Your information is not sent to public AI services.
3.2 Your information is never used to train or improve AI models. It is used only to prepare the draft requested by your care team, and the AI provider is not permitted to keep it afterward beyond short-term security logs.
3.3 Only the information needed for the task is used. Every assisted draft, and the care-team member who reviewed it, is recorded so that your Practice can account for how your information was used.
4. Risks and Limitations
4.1 Software-generated drafts can be incomplete, outdated or wrong. That is why a person reviews them, but no review process is perfect. If something you receive seems inaccurate or does not match what your clinician told you, ask your care team.
4.2 Explanations may refer to "optimal" or functional ranges chosen by your Practice. These reflect your Practice's clinical approach and may differ from the standard reference ranges printed by the laboratory; the App labels them when they are used.
4.3 Assisted features are not for emergencies and do not replace a conversation with your clinician.
5. Your Choices
5.1 Ask for human-only communication. You may tell your Practice at any time that you prefer messages and explanations written without assistance. Your Practice will honor that preference for communications it sends to you.
5.2 Ask questions. You can ask your care team whether a particular message or explanation was prepared with assistance and what was reviewed.
5.3 Withdraw this consent. You may withdraw your consent at any time by contacting your Practice. Withdrawing consent does not affect care you have already received, and it does not change your Practice's ability to use the App for scheduling, records and messaging that do not involve the AI assistants.
5.4 Declining or withdrawing consent will never affect the quality of your care or your relationship with your Practice.
6. Consent
By accepting this disclosure, you confirm that you have read it, that you understand the AI assistants prepare drafts that your care team reviews and that they never make decisions about your care, that your information is processed privately and not used to train AI models, and that you know how to ask for human-only communication or withdraw your consent. Questions about this disclosure may be directed to your Practice or to [privacy email].
This document is a pre-release draft provided for review and has not yet been approved by legal counsel. A final version will be published and, where required, re-acceptance requested.
